About mgtounits

mgtounits answers one kind of question: how many units, mL or IU is this dose? It shows the answer, the formula and the source, and it tells you which kind of "unit" you're dealing with.

Two kinds of units

Most confusion comes from one word meaning two things. Syringe units are a volume: on a U-100 insulin syringe, 1 unit is 0.01 mL. International Units (IU) measure biological activity and differ for every substance. The site keeps them apart: the mg to units calculator handles syringes, and the IU to mg converter handles labels.

What we don't do

How the numbers are checked

Every formula runs through automated tests before each release, and every table on the site is recomputed from the same code. Each page is reviewed by a licensed clinician. The details are on methodology and sources and medical review.

Found a mistake?

A unit error is a dosing error, so we treat reports as urgent. If you spot something wrong, tell your pharmacist first, then tell us at our contact address (coming soon) so we can fix it for everyone.
